Doing Romanticon 2013, Part 2 and Giveaway

I'm giving away a bunch of swag collected at Romanticon. Enter at the end of this post.

Firstly, check out the awesome stuff you get when you register. I was impressed!
EC beer, EC wine, great quality EC tote bag, EC Caveman calendar, EC card deck and more. Oh and the badges are fantastic--I could carry business cards, a camera and more in them. Very convenient!

Tip: Get there on Thursday! Don’t wait until Friday.

I was trying to save one hundred bucks by not getting to the convention until Friday. While I did save that hundred bucks, here’s what I missed out on… The Meet and Greet with cocktails, snacks and karaoke.

Being a Romanticon virgin, that would have been a great way to get acquainted with all the fabulous authors and readers before the regular festivities began. I certainly wouldn’t have assaulted everyone’s ears with my singing, but cocktails, snacks and mingling would have been great.

Tip: Visit swag alley more than once.

If you are a swag whore, definitely visit swag alley more than once. Authors refill their spots in swag alley a few times. If you only visit once, you might miss out on something cool. My wing-bitch and I filled up my swag spot at least five times. I was super happy that people were snatching it up. And, each time I visited, I found something new that wasn’t there on my last walk-through.

Tip: Dress up for the parties, but don’t stress over your costume.

If you can’t afford or simply don’t want to afford a costume, dig through your closet or a friend’s closet and do your interpretation of the party theme. Deciding on costumes was stressing me out until I finally said, “Hey, it doesn’t have to be spot on. Just do your own interpretation.”

I bought a shirt for Bollywood for $11 and already had the bottoms and jewelry. I already had everything in my closet for Hollywood night. Were my costumes perfect? Nope but they worked and only put me out $11.

Tip: Do play games at Carnal Carnival.

I pinned the junk on the hunk and won a vibrating bullet. What?! :-)

Tip: If you are an author, do donate a gift basket to be raffled off.

The awesome person who won my gift basket at bingo read the first book in my series, liked it and preordered the second book. She also tweeted about it. Thank you!

Tip: If you want an alcoholic beverage at noon, you better take your own alcohol.

Okay, someone is reading this and saying, “Who the hell is drinking at noon?” Well, let me tell you. If you have anxiety over participating in the book signing, you might want a drink first.

I had never done a book signing and was pretty much losing my mind stressing about it. Had a cocktail been available (it wasn't, I tried), I’d have been all over it. Luckily, everyone was really nice and I ended up having fun and selling several copies of my book.

Tip: Do wear your pajamas to the bar on Sunday night.

After bingo, wear your pajamas to the bar. Why? Hello, because it's fun! :-) Our team totally sucked at trivia. I mean, SUCKED BAD!!!!!!!!!!!! But, we still had fun in our jammies and met some more fun people.

My wing-bitch and I had a blast and we plan to attend RCon 2014!
