Fun Interview with Dalton Diaz Author of By Mutual Desire

Today... An interview with Dalton Diaz, author of By Mutual Desire.

Reader Advisory: This book contains voyeurism, m/m, group sex and BDSM. Can you say “WOOHOO!”?

About Author and Author's Most Recent Release

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or line from By Mutual Desire? If so, please share.
A: “I’m really starting to hate the word ‘insertion’,” Ryan murmured. “Every time they say it, I don’t get screwed.”
Q: Who is your favorite main character from By Mutual Desire? Why?
A:  I love both Kelly and Ryan, and the way they are with each other. It’s a true love trumps all story.
Q: Who is your favorite secondary character? Why?
A: Jackson. The man has absolutely no inhibitions. He stole the show, and he basically wrote himself. Who could ask for more?
Q: What was the hardest part of writing this book?
A: Finding time. I was under a tight deadline, and real life wouldn’t behave.
Q: What question do you wish that someone would ask about your book?
A: What’s the buy link? <g>
Q: Convince readers to buy your book in 25 words or less.
A: I like to keep a foot in reality. Makes it really interesting to see what happens when “real” people are put into extraordinary situations.

On Writing and Writing Erotica

Q: Why did you choose to write in this genre/subgenre?
A: I did try to write for category romance. When I found myself toning down the sex for submissions to the Blaze line, I finally got wise.
Q: Do you outline or do you start with a basic idea and let it flow? (plotter or pantser)
A: I’m a pure pantser.
Q: Do your family and friends know what you write? If so, what do they think about it?
A: My immediate family and my writing friends know, and they are all extremely supportive.
Q: In erotica/erotic romance, the sex is depicted graphically. Are there any specific words or phrases you aren't comfortable using in your stories? Word or phrase that makes you say “ick”?
A: I’m not a fan of the big C for women. Oh, and “throbbing tumescence” will have me ROFLMAO.
Q: What is your favorite part of writing erotica/erotic romance?
A: The sensual nature of it. Being able to let loose and let imagination flow, letting the characters go where they desire without having to worry about censure.
Q: How long ago was your first story accepted by a publisher and did you pee your pants? J
A: The first one was Love Cuffs (with Ashlyn Chase), which came out in 2008. I didn’t pee my pants, but I did scream without even realizing it! I remember it being a Saturday morning, and logging on to check my email as usual. The next thing I knew, everyone came running out of their rooms to find out what was going on. Oops. <g>
Q: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the publishing process?
A: Writing the book, when everything gels into place, is the best feeling of all. As long as I still have that great feeling while writing, I’ll keep plugging away. This is a tough business, with a lot of rejection along the way no matter how far along you are in the process.

Fun Stuff

Q: Tattoos. Hot or not? And do you have any?
A: Depends on what and where. None for me personally, but I have given them to characters. Jackson in By Mutual Desire has quite a few, and Kevin in Winters’ Thaw has one that is integral to his story.
Q: Wine, Beer or Liquor?
A: Coffee. Copious amounts of coffee.
Q: Dogs, cats or other?
A: Guinea Pigs
Q: Kindle, Nook, Paper? Other?
A: Any and all!
Q: Vibrators, nipple clamps or butt plugs? J
A: Penis
Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: The rooster on the other side was hot. And so were his friends.
Q: What is the meaning of life?
A: Love and laughter. Also a magazine, cereal, and board game.

Final thoughts: Thanks for having me!
My pleasure!

Back cover blurb:

Married for ten years, adventurous Kelly and Ryan are thrilled to take part in a fantasy come true—a week-long sex therapy study on a tropical island. The resort is first class, the sex off the charts.

Ryan’s always denied the issue that stands between them—the issue that threatens to destroy their marriage sooner or later. As they learn new sensual tricks from the other couples on the island, each x-rated assignment brings them closer to breaking down that barrier. When they do, will the pieces fit back together?
