Mutt or Meow Monday with Penny, Nancy Corrigan's Doggy + Giveaway

Welcome to Mutt or Meow Monday!

Mutt or Meow Monday is where we interview the author’s animal friends instead of interviewing the author. Let’s see what the animals have to say!

It’s great to have you here today.

Please introduce yourself.
My name is Penny. I’m a three year old Boxer and I like to crawl into my owner’s lap and hide behind her when I’m scared.

What’s your favorite book and why?
Olive, the Other Reindeer by Vivian Walsh and J. Otto Seibold. Dammit, because I’ve always wanted to fly! They make it look sooo easy. And they’re not scared of falling.

Do you ever interrupt Nancy for attention when she’s trying to write? Does she stop and give you attention, brush you off, or bribe you with treats?
Hehehe…all the time. My owner always decides to write when I want attention. Doesn’t she know her main job in life is petting me? I don’t bark but I stare…a lot. Sometimes, I’ll wait until she sits before standing in front of the door. I’ll stare at it for a while before glancing back at her. Works every time. I think she secretly loves it. She calls me by her pet name ‘pain in the ass’ then scratches my head. Of course, I wait until she’s sitting again before jumping at the door to let me back in.

Does Nancy ever read her writing to you? Do you like it?
No. She says I’m not old enough but she’ll show me pictures of guys. I don’t see what she finds so ‘hot’ about them. They’re just shirtless but when she finds one with a hood, she drools. It’s embarrassing but I love her anyway.

Has Nancy ever based one of her characters on you? Which one?
Sigh…no. I’ll keep trying. Maybe if I stare at her long enough she’ll change her mind.

What does Nancy do to celebrate when she finishes writing a book?
She spends a whole day on the couch reading instead of writing. Those are my favorite days. She pets me all day. One hand on my head, one on the kindle. Heaven…

What do you wish Nancy would do with her writing time instead of writing?
Pet me. Really, what else is there to do?

What’s the best part about living with an author?
It gives me an excuse to hide under the kitchen table. I’m keeping my owner company while she writes, not hiding from the five pound cat or dust bunnies or plastic soda bottles that fall out of the recycling can. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

What’s the worst part about living with an author?
She doesn’t spend every waking moment petting me.

What do you wish Nancy wrote about?
She writes about cats! It’s a betrayal! What makes them so damn special? Sure, they purr but they don’t wag their nub and run around in circles whenever she walks in the door. Not fair! She tries to pacify me and tells me the next series she’s working on will have lots of dogs in it but they’ll be spectral dogs. What the hell is a spectral dog? Well, whatever they are, they won’t be as special as me. And if she thinks they are, I’ll stare at her until she changes her mind.

Chicken, bacon or cheese? Bacon, OMG…bacon. It’s god’s gift to dogs.

Butt sniffin’, leg humpin’, fluffy toys? Hmmm…getting a pedicure/manicure. Love getting my nails trimmed. My owner pets me and tells me how pretty I am.

Final thoughts: Rule #33—as soon as you hear the portable heater turn on, run and claim the spot in front of it before the damn purring cat gets there.
