Fun Interview & Giveaway with Cornelia Amiri

Today, an interview with Cornelia Amiri, author of Ever So Bonnie a Vampire, an erotic paranormal romance. Plus a Giveaway!

About Author and Author's Most Recent Release

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or line from Ever So Bonnie A Vampire ? If so, please share.
A: “Don’t tell my dad, but I got into some trouble with the goddess.”

Q: Who is your favorite main character from Ever So Bonnie A Vampire? Why?
A: Ever. She’s a baobhan sith, a vampiric fey woman who roams the Scottish highlands and drains the blood of their victims, men they dance with. They are also called the dancing vampires. She’s torn between her family, her baobhan sith sisters, and the love of a man. If she chooses him she will have to give up her immortality and become human.

Q: Who is your favorite secondary character? Why?
A:  Goddess Morrigan. To me Goddess Morrigan is an – I am woman – goddess. If she wants to sleep with a god, she sleeps with a god, if she wants to sleep with a human man she finds attractive, she sleeps with him. She can be a beautiful woman or a crone and it doesn’t matter she still demands respect and acknowledgment of her femininity in either form. In this story she is actually trying to take Ever’s man but she can’t fight true love. No one can, not even a goddess.

Q: What was the hardest part of writing Ever So Bonnie A Vampire?
A: Sex scenes are always the hardest scenes for me to write. There is so much more to them than any other type of action scene and they are so essential to the story.

Q: What question do you wish that someone would ask about your book?
A: Any questions about the folk lore or Celtic mythology in the book. I love Celtic myth and legend.

Q: Convince readers to buy your book in 25 words or less.
A: If you want a fast, fun, read with a hot highland hero and a fresh take on vampires, this is the book for you.

On Writing and Writing Erotica

Q: Why did you choose to write in this genre/subgenre?
A: Since 2000 I’ve been writing Celtic/Romances with paranormal elements pulled form Celtic myth and lore. When I read about the baobhan sith, I had to write something about them. It seemed everyone was writing erotica vampire romances and I wanted to show myself that I could write one too. After Dance of The Vampires, I realized there were six other sisters, which was the making of a series and the Dancing Vampire Series was born. Ever So Bonnie A Vampire is the third in the series of five books.

Q: Do you outline or do you start with a basic idea and let it flow? (plotter or pantser)
A: Usually, I’m a bit in between a plotter and a panster. Once I have my idea (my premise), I pick a plot to go with it. Then I work up character charts on the hero and heroine, which include information on their family history and their likes and dislikes. Then, with a fairly good idea about the beginning and ending in my head, I begin the rough draft and let it flow.

Q: Do your family and friends know what you write? If so, what do they think about it?
A: My grown son knows I write erotica romance and he doesn’t really like to discuss that I write erotica romance at all but he has said many times that he is proud of me.

Q: In erotica/erotic romance, the sex is depicted graphically. Are there any specific words or phrases you aren't comfortable using in your stories? Word or phrase that makes you say “ick”?
A: I would have to say cunt. I think it’s a word most women don’t feel comfortable with. Also I have to say, the only language I speak is English and I never feel let down by it except when writing love scenes. I often feel shortened by English, we just don’t have a large enough variety of fitting words for body parts or to describe the pleasure of sex. Only when I write love scenes do I find it difficult to not be repetitive.

Q: What is your favorite part of writing erotica/erotic romance?
A: I find it challenging. Like all writers, I love challenges. It also allows me to tap into and concentrate on one of the greatest pleasures of life and the impact it has on people.

Q: How long ago was your first story accepted by a publisher and did you pee your pants? J
A: My first book was accepted in 2000, and I did. But my first Ellora’s Cave book was accepted in 2012. I was so thrilled to see that email and to become an Ellora’s Cave author.

Q: What are your favorite and least favorite parts of the publishing process?
A:  Waiting. There’s always of plenty of writing for me to do while I wait to hear back from publishers but publishing involves a great deal of waiting. Though I have to say, Ellora’s Cave moves a lot faster than most publishers.

Fun Stuff

Q: Tattoos. Hot or not? And do you have any?
A: Hot.  But, I don’t have any.

Q: Wine, Beer or Liquor?
A: wine or cocktails. I love margaritas and also long island ice tea

Q: Dogs, cats or other?
A: Cats

Q: Kindle, Nook, Paper? Other?
A: I have a kindle and a Sony – I prefer kindle. I still like paper books as I like to read in the bathtub.

Q: Vibrators, nipple clamps or butt plugs? J
A: Vibrators. I never tried the others and probably won’t. I’m not as adventurous as my heroines.

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: Because it was there.

Q: What is the meaning of life?
A:  To live to the fullest and all that entails.
