Mutt or Meow Monday with Bobby, Ashley Ladd's Meow

Welcome to Mutt or Meow Monday!
Mutt or Meow Monday is where we interview the author’s animal friends instead of interviewing the author. Let’s see what the animals have to say!
It’s great to have you here today.

Please introduce yourself.

Hi, my name is Bobby and I’m a domestic short hair black and white cat without a tail and my mommy says I look like Groucho Marx. I love to lay on top of my mommy, knead and try to suckle. She doesn’t like the latter much and says I must have been taken away from my feline mommy much too early. I also like to lick the other 3 cats in our house—a LOT—but not the two dogs who are kind of scary.

Do you ever interrupt Ashley Ladd for attention when she’s trying to write? Does she stop and give you attention, brush you off, or bribe you with treats?

What do you mean “interrupt”? She’s my mommy and she’s there for me whenever I need her.

Usually she’ll stop what she’s doing and pet me or even hold me—unless she has that ugly black thing on her lap already that she pounds on. When I try to climb on that she’ll tell me “no” and brush me off.

Has Ashley Ladd ever based one of her characters on you? Which one?

I’m pretty sure she based “Gizmo” on me in “Make-Believe Lover” published by Ellora’s Cave. He’s a really smart, talking, wise-ass dude. He’s the star of the show, just like me. He saves his mommy and a whole lot of other people.

What does Ashley Ladd do to celebrate when she finishes writing a book?

She loves to go to the movies with her kids and her friends. When she goes with her friends, she usually goes out to eat before or after also. She wants to take me with her, but her kids keep telling her I might get lost, so she always leaves me at home. I didn’t really want to see that movie they went to last night anyway—huge talking apes sound scarier than our two dogs.

What do you wish Ashley Ladd would do with her writing time instead of writing?

Well, me and all her kids, wish she’d stop writing so much. She works all day at her day job then comes home and puts that black box on her lap and starts pounding it--every night lately from after dinner until she goes to sleep. That woman’s obsessed!

We want her to spend her time playing with us. I want her to let me lay on top of her (I don’t like to be held – I’m strictly a man on top kind of guy). I want her to let me suckle her. Her kids constantly want to go out to eat, to movies, take walks, go to Disney…

For cats:
Catnip, toys or scratching post?

I love it when Ashley rubs my head. I also enjoy scratching on the cat tree she bought for us last year. It’s awesome.

Head rubs, belly rubs or butt scratches?

I don’t like anyone to touch my belly or my butt. In fact, I do NOT have a big butt. It only looks that way because I was born without a tail.

I love to get my head rubbed.

Final thoughts:

What do cats like to eat for breakfast? Mice Krispies.

Back cover blurb:

Guy Rogers is extremely attracted to his new realtor, Tom Boudreaux. As a passionate vegetarian and animal rights activist, he’s ecstatic that Tom is a kindred soul. He could never be with a carnivore. Unfortunately, Tommy isn’t really a vegetarian or an animal rights activist. He never said he was, either, he just didn’t eat meat when he was with Guy. And maybe he emptied his house of all meat and dairy products before inviting Guy over. In fact, Tommy’s family owns the most popular barbecue restaurant in town and, if his family has their way, he’ll manage the new location.

When Guy finds out that Tommy eats meat and his family owns a restaurant that’s a monument to eating meat, he’s livid and doesn’t know if he wants anything else to do with Tommy.

But then Guy’s life gets crazy—his dad’s paranoia blossoms into violent dementia, Guy gets arrested for picketing a doggy mill then he winds up in even more legal trouble. When Tommy sticks by him through all his problems and does everything he can to help him, Guy wonders if he’s been too militant and narrow-minded. Perhaps he can learn to live with people who have opposite views.
