Mutt or Meow Monday: Meet Ginseng, Sally Felt's Meow

Welcome to Mutt or Meow Monday!

Mutt or Meow Monday is where we interview the author’s animal friends instead of interviewing the author. Let’s see what the animals have to say!

It’s great to have you here today.

Please introduce yourself.
Call me Ginseng, a gentleman cat of a certain age. I enjoy eye contact and conversations with my human companion. Also, gravy. Sally and I met at a Humane Society event. She’d had a rough experience with an always-yelling Meezer and hadn’t planned to take home a cat so clearly Seal Point Siamese as I. Happily, I was able to persuade her otherwise.

What’s your favorite book by Sally Felt and why?
I’ve been coaching Sally since I moved in, and she’s coming along nicely. For example, her newest, Flushed, has no dogs. Enough said.

Do you ever interrupt Sally for attention when she’s trying to write? Does she stop and give you attention, brush you off, or bribe you with treats?
Interrupt? Keeping her company is my job, and I’m nothing if not dedicated. Sally writes on a laptop. The computer gets her left leg and I get her right. Now and then, when she needs a break, I’ll turn off the laptop with my head. For her own good, of course.

What do you wish Sally would do with her writing time instead of writing?
Talk to me, scruffle me, play with me. For play, I prefer classics from the wand toy oeuvre. Feathers are always nice, a la Da Bird, and any number of variations of fish-on-a-stick.

What’s the best part about living with an author?
Being respected as an individual personality and writing partner. There is no, “here, kitty, kitty” in our relationship. (Though if you were to hear some of the absurd nicknames she has for me—Fuzz Bunny, Bubba, Cutie Pie, Kitten Face—honestly.)

What’s your favorite non-traditional food?
Fig Newtons. Do not try to hide them from me. I will find them. Also, green olives. More specifically, green olive brine, in which I will roll in ecstasy. Sally believes I lived near the Mediterranean in a past life.

Head rubs, belly rubs or butt scratches?
All of the above. Little known fact—I am liberally endowed with what Sally calls “lick buttons,” i.e., places which, when scritched by a human, produce an automatic, irresistible impulse to lick. She finds it amusing to watch me writhe with desire to lick. It might annoy me if it didn’t feel so good.

Final thoughts: If you plan to adopt a feline companion, please consider an adult. I can’t tell you how often Sally tells me she is glad to have taken a chance on my full-grown self, rather than insist on a squirmy, curtain-climbing, pointy-clawed kitten. Thank you.

Back cover blurb:
Kissing her plumber in the middle of her dinner party wasn’t in Isabelle’s carefully-laid plans. But neither had she expected an ambush by her uninvited ex. So when Kim Martin, plumber to the rescue, charms her guests and poses as her new guy to spare her humiliation, she gets carried away.

At first, being Isabelle’s faux beau suits Kim Martin just fine. She’s hot, intriguing and won’t get in the way of his plans to blow town and build a business he’s passionate about. But Isabelle just isn’t cut out to be a good time girl. She gets under Kim’s skin and into his head—and he’s not entirely sure what to do about that.

Isabelle has been fooled too often to trust a gorgeous flirt like Kim. Yet the more she tries to fit him into a box, the harder he fights his way out of it. Hot, bothered and more than a little flushed, she’s having trouble keeping her hands—or her heart—to to herself.

Author Bio:
Sally Felt writes funny, sexy stories about people who have a thing or two to learn about love. Her mission: write decent-guy heroes who are also dead sexy. She is amazing at starting conversations in elevators and laughing for no reason. If she could be any animal, she’d be an otter, because they play all the time. Or maybe a llama, for their lush eyelashes and ability to spit.

Sally is smart enough to live in Texas, where hot is as much about the men as the weather. Still, she thinks bow ties are cool.

  2. Thanks, Jules. Wish I had video of what happens when a button is activated, but then his dignity might never recover.

  4. Thanks for having him, Jocelyn. I'm sure he'd thank you himself, but the attention has worn him out, and I hate to wake him. :)
