Mutt or Meow Monday: Meet Peanut, Annie Nicholas's Mutt + Giveaway

Welcome to Mutt or Meow Monday!

Mutt or Meow Monday is where we interview the author’s animal friends instead of interviewing the author. Let’s see what the animals have to say!

It’s great to have you here today.

Please introduce yourself.

Hello, I’m Peanut and I own Annie Nicholas. I’m a one year old Great Dane who likes to try to fit into places that won’t hold me like my human’s lap.

What’s your favorite book by Annie Nicholas and why?

I love her Chronicle of Eorthe series because it’s about wolf pack life and in my heart I KNOW I am part wolf.

Do you ever interrupt Annie Nicholas for attention when she’s trying to write? Does she stop and give you attention, brush you off, or bribe you with treats?

Are you kidding me? I live to interrupt her. Especially when she’s on the couch and I can snuggle right against her and lean my 115 pound frame against her body. She doesn’t have a choice but to stop and pay attention to me or I’d crush her to death.

Does Annie Nicholas ever read her writing to you? Do you like it?

No, she’s very tight lipped. Something about not wanting to corrupt my mind.

Has Annie ever based one of her characters on you? Which one?

No, but another author has contacted her for permission to use me.

What do you wish Annie would do with her writing time instead of writing?

Take me on long truck rides with the window down so my flubby lips can flap in the wind.

What’s the best part about living with an author?
She’s always home and accessible when I need her. She writes a lot about wolf pack dynamics and understands that some of this is part of dog pack life as well.

Chicken, bacon or cheese?  BACON
Butt sniffin’, leg humpin’, fluffy toys? Fluffy toys

Final thoughts: Dogs are people too.

Number of pages: 94, Word Count: 24,000
Cover Artist: Renee Rocco

Hunted to near extinction by an alien race called the Ko, my people have run from Earth and drifted so far among the stars we can’t remember the way back. We live everywhere, but call nowhere home. The Ko want us erased from existence and memory. They don’t even want our DNA in the space dust. Humans disguise themselves as other alien species and hide in plain sight. It’s the only way we can survive.

I believe in the myth of Earth. I’ve even discovered a bona fide book written in the dead language of my people. My man, Brody, dreams of a secret human colony. He’s searched for years, hunting any rumor we’ve run across, and finally he’s made contact. Usually, he’s the one grounding me to station and keeping my head out of the atmosphere. Time for me to return the favor…that is, if I can ditch the Ko who’ve discovered me, thanks to my incessant artifact-hunting. If we don’t make our rendezvous, and the Ko don’t kill me, Brody just might…

CONTENT WARNING: Aliens, cargo ships, and a fast paced race against all odds.
